After posting an announcement on Facebook, Ken Beam lured plenty of good friends to the South Branch of the Raritan River on that snowy day in January. Jim Holland one of the owners of Shannon`s Fly & Tackle Shop in Califon videoed that days adventure. Jim stated, “I have always about the Legendary Califon Sucker Gigging, but have never seen it till today!” The Boys ended up with fifty suckers and had a lot of good laughs on that cold Saturday on the ice! After putting a few videos of the day together, and being encouraged by his girlfriend Sharon, Ken was inspired to write an article and submitted it to one of his all-time favorite magazines that he read as a teenager growing up in Califon, Fur-Fish-Game Magazine.
